Koh Phi Phi Don is the only inhabited island in the group and is as well the biggest. It is practically two islands joined together by a narrow isthmus, flanked on either side by Ton Sai Bay and Lo Dalam Bay. The majority of tourist boats dock at Ton Sai Bay – the activity hot spot jammed with restaurants, bars, hotels or guest houses. The west side of the bay offers a secure anchorage all year round.

Hat Khun Hom and Hat Yao beaches, immediately east from Ton Say Bay, will surprise you with white sand and peace. They can only be reached by foot or by boat.

There are two 5-star resorts located on the northern tip of Phi Phi Don: Zeavola and Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort. In the high (north-west) season from November to April, you can anchor in Lanah Bay on the west side of the tip and walk over on the track from the jetty. In the low season with its south-east monsoon, good anchorage is available on the west side of the northern tip.

Koh Phi Phi Leh is a smaller and more scenic island than Phi Phi Don and is uninhabited. It is also home to the spectacular Maya Bay where “The Beach” with Leo DiCaprio was filmed. Surrounded by soaring limestone cliffs, it harbours 3 sandy beaches. From a yachting point of view, however, it is only worth visiting in late afternoon or early morning, when there are no tourists boats. Moorings are available in the bay in the high (north-west) season though can be quite hard to get due to the popularity of the place.

On the east coast of Koh Phi Phi Leh is Hong Pileh, a stunning jade green lagoon surrounded by sheer cliffs and caves which you will pass on your luxury yacht cruise. One of these caves is the well-known Viking Cave with ancient rock paintings of boats. These paintings were believed to represent Viking boats.

Day moorings are available in Loh Samah Bay on the southern tip of the island. There is a track crossing over to Maya Bay. But for a night stay, it is more secure to anchor in Ton Sai Bay on the island of Phi Phi Don.
